Inilabas na ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 5 ang social pension ng halos 4,000 indigent senior citizens sa Camarines Sur.
Ayon kay DSWD 5 Social Pension Information Officer Jastine Joy Dichoso Escuro, ang mga kwalipikadong seniors ay nakatanggap ng tig-P6,000 assistance, sakop ang anim na buwan.
“Since the increase of the social pension from PHP500 to PHP1,000, the Ragay town in Camarines Sur elderlies received the first payout in the region. There are currently four local government units (LGUs) from Camarines Sur and Camarines Norte scheduled for payout this April, with ongoing processing of other LGUs,” ayon kay Escuro.
Ang assistance na ibinigay ng pamahalaan ay para sa kanilang pang-araw-araw na pangangailangan at gamot.
Ang mga eligible beneficiaries ay mga senior citizens na indigent o mayroong disability, may karamdaman o sakit, mga walang regular na income o suporta mula sa kanilang pamilya o kamag-anak, hindi nakakatanggap ng ano mang pension mula sa Social Security System (SSS), Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO), Armed Forces at Police Mutual Benefit Association Inc. o ano mang private insurance company.
Nasa 288,155 indigent senior citizens ang kwalipikadong tumanggap ng kanilang social pension benefits sa Bicol Region.
