Nasa 16 na gamot para sa cancer, diabetes, at mental illness ang isinailalim sa Value Added Tax (VAT) exemption ng Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
Sa ilalim ng Revenue Memorandum Circular (RMC) 131-2004, inilathala ng BIR ang updated na listahan ng VAT-exempt medicines kabilang ang para sa cancer – Degarelix freeze-dried powder na may 80 milligrams (mg) at 120 mg, at Tremelimumab concentrates na may 25 mg at 300 mg dosages.
Bukod dito, exempted din sa VAT ang mga gamot para sa diabetes tulad ng Sitagliptin, at Linagliptin film-coated tablets.
Kasama rin sa VAT-free medicines ang para sa mental illness tulad ng Clomipramine Hydrochloride tablets, at Midazolam film-coated tablets.
Ang mga dagdag na gamot na inilagay sa exemptions ay tugon sa updated list ng VAT-exempt products mula sa Food and Drug Administration.
