Pinabilis na ng Meta, ang kumpanyang may hawak sa social media platforms na Facebook at Instagram sa pagtatanggal ng election-related fake news kasunod ng pagpe-pressure ng pamahalaan.
Ayon Cybercrime Investigation Office ng Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), ang attached agency sa ilalim ng Department of Information and Commuinications Technology (DICT), ilang disinformation ang agad na naialis sa loob lamang ng isang oras, malaking improvement anila mula sa mga dating timelines.
Kinikilala ni DICT Secretary Henry Aguda ang mabilis na aksyon ng Meta pero pinaalalahanan ang naturang platform na maging mapagmatyag kahit matapos ang halalan.
“We appreciate Meta’s swift response. But this urgency must continue beyond the elections. The DICT and CICC will keep monitoring Meta’s efforts and expect the same proactive approach against all forms of harmful and misleading content,” sabi ni Aguda sa statement.
Samantala, hinihikayat ni Aguda ang lahat ng social media platforms na makipagtulungan sa pamahalaan para malabanan ang iba pang uri ng malisyosong content online.
